Sha-Lun Junior High School is located in Wudong Village, GuiRen District, Tainan City (formerly Wudong Village, GuiRen Township, Tainan County). The total area of the school grounds is approximately 5.18 hectares. It was established to meet the educational needs resulting from the development and influx of population in the vicinity of Tainan High-Speed Rail Station after the inauguration of the Taiwan High-Speed Rail. This was done to alleviate the overcrowding issues faced by the only existing junior high school in GuiRen area. Local figures such as Liu Chao-Ming, the head of GuiRen Township, Ye Ping-Xian, the head of Wudong Village, Mr. Huang Zhen-Xiang, Mr. Li Ji-Long, Mr. Lin Shi-Xiang, along with legislators Li Jun-Yi, councilor Chen Te-Qing from Tainan County Council, councilors Zeng Wang-Ya-Yun and Yang Shui-Chi, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Villagers' Representative Assembly, respectively, and other representatives actively campaigned for the establishment of the school. Their efforts were greatly supported by former Tainan County Magistrate Su Huan-Zhi, who made the wise decision to approve the establishment of the school with the consent of the central government.

On June 28, 2002 (Republic of China calendar), Principal Chen Ren-Zheng of Tainan County Wun-Xian Junior High School, following the order of Tainan County Government, took charge of planning the establishment of Sha-Lun Junior High School and immediately commenced preparatory work. The process included submitting the school demand plan, architect selection by the Ministry of Education, school establishment briefing, soliciting suggestions for the school name, tendering, awarding the contract, project implementation, and acceptance, among other tasks. Finally, the school was approved by Tainan County Government in May 2005 and started admitting students in August 2005.

The first principal was Mr. Chen Ren-Zheng, who made significant contributions to the establishment of the school. In August 2007, Principal Chen Ren-Zheng retired, and he was succeeded by Principal Zhang Ming-Xian as the second principal. Due to the merger of counties and cities, the original "Tainan County Sha-Lun Junior High School" was officially renamed "Tainan Municipal Sha-Lun Junior High School" on December 25, 2010, with Principal Zhang Ming-Xian serving as the first principal after the renaming. On August 1, 2011, Principal Chen Li-Ru took over as the second principal. Under the leadership of Principal Chen Li-Ru, the school staff worked tirelessly, and with strong local support, the school continued to flourish. The number of classes and enrollment increased every year, and the school achieved outstanding performances in various external competitions, with commendable academic results.

On August 1, 2019, after the completion of Principal Chen Li-Ru's term, she was transferred to another school, and Principal Chen Bo-Cang took over. With the promotion of the national development plan for the Sha-Lun Smart Green Energy Science City, the school began planning its transformation into a K-12 school. The process of upgrading and restructuring involves numerous tasks, but with the visionary planning of Principal Chen Bo-Cang and the collective efforts of the faculty and staff, integrating the local cultural foundation, incorporating educational resources from the science city and implementing bilingual education, the school is gradually moving towards international standards. The future of Sha-Lun Junior High School holds great promise and will undoubtedly reach new heights.
